Goal setting has its rules, do you know them?

In my work, I notice that setting goals is clear to everyone, everyone knows this at first glance.
When it comes to concretizing goals, it turns out just the opposite. People set goals without stating it clearly and concretely, writing it down. This is when it turns out that many of us have a problem with this.
The skill of setting goals is also very useful in Coaching, because without it we cannot carry out coaching, we cannot know what the expected result is and what the client really expects in this process.
And where, in my experience, it is most often complicated?
1. I write down my goal, define it clearly and distinctly, if possible, in 1 sentence.
I can also back it up with a picture, a symbol, a statement
For help, you can ask yourself:
What specifically do I want to achieve, do, change?
What bothers me today that I don’t achieve this, do it, change it…?
How important this is to me (1-10)
2. What are the properties of a well-designed goal?
A well-formed result is set as positive statement with a real timeline
The goal must be mine and not something that others want, expect, …
What is the purpose of this outcome, why do I want it?
What will I see, feel, hear when I reach the goal? (as if ...)
What concrete steps do I need to take each day? I make sure to make these steps appealing to me
3. How can you support your goal?
I check what resources I need to achieve my goals
How will I know that I have achieved my goal, what will be the “proof”?
I set goals in such a way, that their implementation does not affect others, does not harm others
Each of us has already set a goal that we have not achieved. The reasons were different and I believe we always found an excuse. To be more committed to achieve the goal you can also:
Visualize the goal,
put a symbol or something that reminds us every day in a visible place,
informe friends, relatives, important people in our lives about the goal,
regularly check the progress or what you have already done.
When you understand goal-setting methodology, you fail less. There are even fewer failures if you work with a coach who supports and guides you in the process of achieving our goals. Then your success, with the right motivation, is guaranteed.
